Garden Lighting

As a finishing touch to any garden, lighting really creates atmosphere and prolongs the presence of your outdoor space long after the sun has gone down. There is a wide range of lights available in varying finishes such as stainless steel, chrome, bronze or black, as well as the choice between energy-efficient LED or the stronger output of halogen.

Whether you want to draw attention to a specimen tree, create a safe path through the garden at night, or simply extend the usability of your patio into the evening, the right lighting scheme transforms the experience of the space.

Spotlights & Feature Lighting

Spotlights & Feature Lighting

If you have a large feature such as an ornamental tree or statue in your garden that you would like to draw attention to, using a spotlight is the ideal choice. Although spotlights can be either LED or halogen-based, halogen bulbs give a much stronger beam and are usually better suited to this purpose.

For trees and large shrubs, we position spotlights at the base to wash light up through the canopy — the effect after dark can be as much a feature of the garden as the tree itself during the day.

Marker Lights for Paving & Decking

Marker Lights for Paving & Decking

A popular feature in decking, paving and driveway projects is to install marker lights around the perimeter of the surface — improving safety by highlighting the edge, particularly where there is a drop in height. These lights can be installed into precisely cut holes in your decking or paving so the wires are completely hidden and can take the weight of a vehicle.

LED garden lights are the most popular choice for this application due to their long lifespan of around 50,000 hours and energy consumption of only 0.3–1 watts per light. Blue and white LEDs are the main colour options, both giving a clean, contemporary result.

Wall & Step Lighting

Wall & Step Lighting

Where you have a perimeter wall, raised bed or descending steps, eyelid lights can be secured to the wall itself to direct light downwards — avoiding bright light in the eyes while illuminating the ground below effectively.

Alternatively, uplighters installed at the base of a wall or feature shine light up the face of it, creating a dramatic effect that emphasises height and texture. Both approaches work well either alone or in combination for a considered, layered result.
