"Every material choice, every level check —
it all shows in the finished garden."
George-Stone Gardens was built around a simple observation: the gardens that disappoint are almost always the ones where design and construction were handled by different people.
Our landscape designers, construction specialists, and horticulturalists work together from day one. Planting schemes are considered before the first stone is laid. The person who designs your garden is part of the team that builds it. What you see on the Master Blueprint is what you get on the ground.
We have been delivering landscape design and construction across Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and the Cotswolds since 2007. Projects typically range from £40,000 to £100,000 or more depending on scope. We take on approximately 20 garden transformations each year, enough to give every project the attention it deserves.
One Integrated Team
Why the Integrated Approach
Produces Better Gardens
When the same team designs, builds, and plants your garden, every decision informs the next, from the first conversation to the final planting.
Design that understands construction reality
Our designers work alongside our construction specialists on every Gloucestershire project. Drainage routing, terrace levels, retaining wall heights, and paving layouts are all decided with construction knowledge already in the room. The result is a finished garden that reflects the design intent precisely.
Construction that understands design intent
A millimetre of variation in a step riser changes the feel of a flight of stairs. The orientation of a paving joint affects how light plays across a terrace. Because the same integrated team designs and builds your garden, those details are carried by the people doing the work, not lost in a handoff between separate contractors.
Planting schemes designed before the build begins
Our horticultural team informs the construction phase from the start. Irrigation routes, soil depth allowances, and microclimate considerations are built in before the first stone is laid. This is why our planting establishes reliably and matures as intended.
RHS construction standards on every project
At Tatton Park 2024, our construction team received an RHS Gold Medal, with judges citing near-faultless construction. That standard is not reserved for show gardens. Every residential project we take on is built to the same benchmark.
Services
What We Do
Every landscaping project we take on is a complete service, from the initial consultation through design, construction, and planting, with the option of two growing seasons of establishment support. The individual services below form part of that whole rather than standalone offerings.
The Complete Service
Complete Garden Transformation
For gardens that need a full transformation. One team handles design, construction, and planting, consistent from the first consultation to final planting. Projects typically from £40,000.
Hard Landscaping
Patios, terraces, retaining walls, steps, driveways, and pergolas, delivered to show-garden precision. Every level checked by someone who drew it. Approved Jacksons Fencing installers.

Soft Landscaping and Planting
Plant selection informed by horticultural knowledge. Species chosen for Cotswold conditions, seasonal layering, and how the garden performs at year five and beyond.
Explore
Garden Features
Water features, outdoor kitchens, garden rooms, built as integral elements of the landscape. Drainage, power, and structure resolved from the outset, not retrofitted.
Explore
Fencing
Featheredge, slatted, panel and acoustic fencing, specified to suit the boundary and the garden behind it. Approved Jacksons Fencing installers, every fence backed by a 25-year guarantee against rot and insect attack.
Explore
Sloping and Challenging Sites
Where experience shows. We treat difficult ground as opportunity: terracing, cut-and-fill, and integrated drainage that give a garden character rather than limiting it.
Explore
Garden Lighting
Spotlights, uplighters, marker lights and eyelid wall fittings, planned to extend how a garden gets used after dark. Cabling and power routed in from the design stage, not chased through finished paving later.

Why George-Stone
Why Choose George-Stone Gardens
One team. Complete responsibility. From the first conversation to an established garden.
One Integrated Team
Whilst design-only firms hand your project to separate contractors once the drawings are done and build companies bring in designers as sub-consultants, we integrate design, construction, and planting within one team. You have one point of contact from the initial consultation to your established garden.
RHS Gold Medal Construction Standards
Our construction team received an RHS Gold Medal at Tatton Park, with judges citing near-faultless construction. That standard is not reserved for show gardens; that benchmark is what we bring to every residential project we work on.
Deep Understanding of Cotswold Conditions
Nearly two decades working across Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and the Cotswolds means we understand what makes a landscaping project succeed in this region. We know which materials weather authentically here, which approaches satisfy conservation and AONB planning requirements, and how local soil and frost conditions shape every design decision.
Focused Capacity. Personal Attention.
We take on approximately 20 landscaping projects each year. That limit is deliberate. It means our expertise and direct personal involvement are applied to your project at every stage, without exception.
What We Build
