Garden Irrigation
An automated irrigation system removes one of the most time-consuming and easily neglected aspects of garden maintenance. Rather than relying on hand watering or a hose, a well-designed system delivers water directly to the root zone of your plants and lawn — at the right time and in the right quantity.

Water where you need it, when you need it — without wasting a drop.
An automated irrigation system removes one of the most time-consuming and easily neglected aspects of garden maintenance. Rather than relying on hand watering or a hose, a well-designed system delivers water directly to the root zone of your plants and lawn — at the right time and in the right quantity.
George-Stone Gardens designs and installs bespoke irrigation systems for residential gardens across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. Whether you need a simple automated pop-up system for a lawn, a drip network for planted beds, or a smart controller that adjusts watering schedules based on rainfall and soil conditions, we specify and install a system to suit your garden and budget.

Pop-Up Sprinkler Systems for Lawns
Pop-up sprinkler systems are the most popular choice for lawn irrigation. Heads are installed flush with the turf surface and only rise when the system is active — preserving the appearance of the lawn and preventing any tripping hazard.
The spray pattern, coverage angle and precipitation rate of each head are selected to match the shape and dimensions of your lawn. Overlapping coverage zones ensure even distribution without dry patches, and heads can be adjusted after installation if planting or garden features change.
Drip Irrigation for Planted Beds & Borders
Drip irrigation delivers water slowly and directly to the soil around individual plants, minimising evaporation and keeping foliage dry — which in turn reduces the risk of fungal problems. It is the most water-efficient method available and is particularly suited to vegetable gardens, raised beds and planted borders.
Drip lines are installed below mulch or soil level, making them unobtrusive once planting is established. The system can be zoned so that different plant types receive water at different rates and frequencies — essential where drought-tolerant and moisture-loving plants share the same garden.
Smart Controllers & Water Management
Modern irrigation controllers connect to local weather data, rainfall sensors and soil moisture probes to automatically adjust or suspend watering schedules. This prevents overwatering during wet spells and ensures plants receive water during periods of heat stress — all without any manual intervention.
We install controllers that can be managed via a smartphone app, giving you the ability to monitor usage, adjust schedules and override the system from anywhere. For larger gardens with multiple zones, smart systems represent a significant saving in water use and improve the long-term health of both lawn and planted areas.
